Pat Miller

Pat has a successful career spanning the last fifteen years in the medical device industry. Pat has proven success working within the confines of very large organizations as well as those that are more nimble and in their early stages. He has done so in a range of domestic markets from the Mid-Atlantic to Northern California.

Pat is a proven business owner, consultant, manager and sales representative. He has had success building and motivating teams, selling complex products, generating profitable revenue, and identifying and communicating key issues surrounding medical sales success and failure. Possessing a Johns Hopkins education with a focus in health care extending into graduate school, provides Pat with technical and policy background. His contagious passion and an unyielding determination to be successful and mentor motivates those around him to excel.

James joined Homewood Surgical in early 2013 already having amassed a wealth of knowledge in his short career in medical sales. A true self starter James built a substantial book of business in southern Maryland and DC in medical supply sales prior to joining the Homewood team.

After a few years managing Homewood's flagship accounts he led the company in new business growth relative to extremity, sports medicine and biologic products. James moved into the role of sales director in 2016.  There, he identified key sales partnerships, forecasting and  delivering further sales for the region. 


In 2019 James moved into the role of managing partner for the states of Maryland, DC and Virginia. In addition to the above mentioned responsibilities, he works with new product roll out, physician education and sales rep orientation and training.

We are seeking a highly motivated, goal and detail oriented person who has a history of building relationships with the upmost integrity.  Working with our team requires flexible hours, consistent follow up and exceptional communication skills. 


A Homewood Surgical independent sales associate is responsible for, among other things:

  • Providing surgical case coverage support including training surgeons and hospital staff on proper servicing of devices, and ensuring that proper instruments and implants are available and ready for case prior to its onset. 
  • Building strong relationships with key surgeons, while covering more routine orthopedic procedures with clinical proficiency and business acumen. 
  • Working collaboratively with Sales Director and Clinical Director to build, implement and execute a sales plan.
  • Assisting with planning, coordinating and executing local educational and sales events intended to augment the business and help to deliver assigned sales goals. 
  • Complying with all mandatory training requirements established by Homewood Surgical including training in the areas of product information, operating room etiquette, universal precautions, blood borne pathogens, sterile field preservation, compliance with legal and ethical standards, and our partners’ compliance programs. 


Expected Areas of Competence:


  • In depth understanding of customers and their requirements. 
  • Clinically proficient in anatomy and willing to work within a medical facility's operating room. 
  • Ability to become technically proficient with the designated portfolio of products. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and influence others. 
  • Willing and capable of carrying weights up to 50 pounds, independently. 


Education Requirements: 


  • Bachelors Degree preferred.
